I just wanted a simple program that I could use to input my recipes and let it calculate the nutrition so I wouldn't have to tally it up myself. If you’re a blogger, MacJournal would definitely fit the requirements but if you’re just a regular person and like to cook every once in a while, than MacGourmet DeLuxe might be the choice. I experimented with several other ingredients and the same thing happened again and again. But for some reason every time I tried using this item in a recipe, it tripled the calories even though the recipe was for one serving. I started with whole grain brown rice and I input everything exactly as it is on the nutritional label. I tried inputting my own nutritional info for some brands I use. Update: I decided to give this program a 2nd chance before sending it back. There's a 30 day money back guarantee printed on the box, and I'm seriously considering returning it. The main reason I bought this program is for the nutritional calculator, but if it's incorrect, then all it's good for is a recipe box. You can add your own items to the list, and but it won't let you input the vitamin and mineral info like the preinstalled items have. But once I found the right items, the nutritional info didn't match the nutritional labels for the brands I use. I had to hunt through a list of items to find the closest match. It didn't recognize common ingredients like "strawberry jam" and "oatmeal".
Once I got it installed correctly, I found that entering my own recipes were easy, but getting the nutritional info was a chore. So, I had to email Mariner Software for help, and wait 2 days for the instructions to be emailed back. I installed it incorrectly and it would only run off of the disk.
First, there weren't any installation instructions in the box, on the box or on the screen when I inserted the disk. I haven't found anything good to say about this program yet.
